Seed's of Hope 5K Walk/Run - November 9, 2013

Seeds of Hope will be hosting it's 2nd Annual 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, November 9th, 2013 at Kiwanis Park in Shaler Township! The race will begin promptly at 9am. All proceeds benefit our efforts in helping spread awareness about Veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and/or homelessness.

Operation Troop Appreciation 5K Run - Nov 10, 2013

Join Operation Troop Appreciation for a 5K Run/Walk at Hampton Community Park at 9AM. Registration closes on Friday, November 7, 2013.

National Remembrance Day Roll Call 2013 - November 11, 10am - noon.

Join the University of Pittsburgh at Heinz Memorial Chapel as they honor those who paid the ulimate price for this country. Speakers include:

  • Vice Chancellor G. Reynolds Clark, University of Pittsburgh
  • John McCabe, President and CEO, Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum
  • Paul Kantner, CGS Outstanding Student of the Yea, U.S. Marine Corps

    FREE Just Ducky Tours - November 11, 2013

    The Checkpoint, a new online resource for Veterans and their families celebrates it's launch by offering FREE tours of Pittsburgh with Just Ducky Tours.

    Tour Time Slots:
    1:30pm - 2:30pm
    3:00pm - 4:00pm
    4:00pm - 5:00pm

    All tours start inside the Freight House Shops at Stations Square. Reserve your spot by calling (412) 402-3825 or email reservations@justduckytours.com. Reference "CHECKPOINT" to claim your FREE tour *. Refreshments will be served outside the Just Ducky Tours office. Please arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to your tour.

    * - Reservations will be made on a first-come, first-serve basis.

    Veterans Salute Breakfest - November 16, 2013

This offer is available to Military Personnel who have one of the following forms of identifications: ID Card, Retired ID Card, Current LES, DD form 214 Veterans Organization Card (i.e., American Legion and VFW), Photograph in Uniform, Wearing Uniform

    IKEA Cafe will be honoring Veterans by giving a free meal to Veterans from November 9 - 11. Proof of service is required. Only valid at participating locations.

    Veterans will be able to choose a complimentary lunch or dinner entrée. Veterans must provide proof of military service. Be sure to contact your local McCormick & Schmick's as this is valid at participating restaurants only. Also, space is limited and reservations are highly recommended.

    To provide support and guidance to Post 9/11 era veterans within the Greater Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania Area, throughout their transition and maintain continual support thereafter.

    Organizational Review

    We are a home grown Post-9/11 Veteran support group designed and ran by Post-9/11 Veterans! We work with many nationally based groups to help provide veterans returning home with the support they need. 501C(3) Non-profit status pending.

    Organization's Services

    Through our many partnerships, SCV is able to provide Veterans of the Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania areas with some great assistance including help with VA filing as well as many other services to make sure all Veterans returning to this area are not forgotten.
